ZIMBABWE INSTITUTE OF WILDLIFE CONSERVATION(ZIWC) was established in 1981 and was officially opened by the Minister of Natural Resource. The institute is wholly owned and funded by the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority. The College is accredited by the Higher Education Examination Council of zimbabwe. This is Zimbabwe’s prime examination Board which falls under the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Development.

Since its establishment the college has trained many students under Wildlife Management . As a wildlife conservation college it aims to produce highly trained wildlife managers and officers aimed in protecting and conserving wildlife and endangered species. ZIMBABWE INSTITUTE OF WILDLIFE CONSERVATION(ZIWC) is the only college in Zimbabwe that is loccated within a sanctuary hence it offers students with hands on experience and a typical safari environment. As the college is wholly owned by the Zimababwe Parks and Wildlife Management, the students can enjoy the facilities and experiences offered by other recreational and national parks, safari areas, sanctuaries and botanical gardens that are owned by the authority.
