Wildlife Management

1.0 Aim of the Course

The course is designed to develop a technician with the knowledge, skills and
attitudes required to satisfy the needs of the Wildlife Management and related industries.

1.1 Objectives of the Course

At the end of the course the graduate should be able to:-

  • Identify the characteristics of the biotic and abiotic components of the ecosystem in order to manage them sustainable;
  • Formulate and implement wildlife management programmes, on biological resources;
  • Develop and implement tourism programmes;
  • Develop community based models in the development and management of conservation programmes in the communities;
  • Manage wildlife resources in conformity with the requirement of the wildlife law;
  • Apply information technology systems to enhance the management of wildlife in parks;
  • Manage financial, human and material resources for the sustainable utilization of natural resources;
  • Conduct applied research on wildlife management and present informative reports;
  • Demonstrate patriotism to national issues;
  • Demonstrate a critical, logical and objective approach to problem solving at the workplace;
  • Implement health and safety regulations at the workplace;
  • Acquire and implement entrepreneurial skills;

    The National Diploma in Wildlife Management duration is 1 840 hours(2 years) plus 6 months on the job training.


    Course duration is 600 hours (1 year) which includes college attendance and practical exposure.


    National Certificate in Wildlife Management or equivalent.
